This driving track is a menu of delights from start to finish and offers a diversification to the plethora of sax tracks which seem all too prevalent in the smooth jazz charts at the moment. James has teamed up with the accomplished guitarist Ant Law to offer a fresh mid tempo summer groove which has all the traits and trimmings of Lee Ritenour meets Jeff Lorber. The musicianship is superb and James’ arrangement with those driving horns add interest and a musical spectrum which is lacking in much of today’s Smooth Jazz recordings. - Wes GillespieAudio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. "The first time I heard Touched By The Light it immediately painted a vista of a romantic stroll on a moonlight beach. A highly recommended track for a quiet night in with a bottle of your favorite wine and music to wash away the hectic urban lifestyle. The master of Smooth Groove has come up trumps once again." “Moment In Time” is an upbeat, mid-tempo tune that has a bit of a Latin flair to it. This is a well-orchestrated song that highlighting the talents of Parlett and Colah. One of the things that I like most about this song is an almost whimsical keyboard hook that Colah peppers throughout this song. This song has been doing well on the various internet radio stations across the globe, and for good reason. An upbeat, pop-styled tune with a great hook in the horn blasts. James bright keys are excellent foil against the some searing sax play. - Jeff Niziol – usnewjazz.comAudio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. “Ocean Tide” glides along with a kind of bop-and-stroll feel that is both joyful, funky, and, yes, even sexy in its own way. - Ronald JacksonAudio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. James Colah is back with another single - “To Be With You”. This time James partners with UK guitarist Ben Pedley for yet another upbeat offering. The combination of Colah and Pedley works well on this track. The transitions between the two are virtually seamless. As with most of James’ work, there are a multitude of layers to this composition. Including the addition of vocals from Colah himself (in the vein of George Benson and Steve Oliver). Pedley’s guitar playing is reminiscent of Chris Standring’s. I especially like the addition of the “retro” guitar fills (think 70’s R&B). Colah again delivers an upbeat, catchy tune that he is becoming known for. This is an instance where a great song is complimented by equally great musicianship. This is definitely a tune that belongs on your personal playlist.
